PORTLAND -- A 33-year-old man was gunned down in St. Johns Monday and police are offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case.

Donte Alwakeel Young was shot in the head at about 2 p.m. Monday near George Middle School. The school was put in lockdown, as was nearby Roosevelt High School, as police investigated.

Young died from his wounds.

Witnesses at the scene said a large group of people fled the area before officers arrived. Detectives believe some of those people have information critical to solving the case, said Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Leave an anonymous tip online here or call 503-823-HELP.
