PORTLAND -- A suspicious package found inside a Portland State University parking structure Tuesday morning was deemed safe about an hour later, campus officials said.

The device was found just before 8:30 a.m. on the first floor of Parking Structure 3, at Southwest 12th Avenue and Southwest Mill Street, according to the PSU Campus Public Safety Office.

Police said a box with jumper cables in it was tucked under a car. The structure was closed temporarily during the investigation. It reopened at about 9:30.
