PORTLAND -- The busy Portland construction season is under way, beginning with a huge project that has closed Southeast Cesar Chavez Boulevard.
Sewer construction will close the street to through traffic from Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard to Southeast Division Street for 24 hours a day, for up to three weeks. The street will be completely closed at Southeast Harrison Street.
As that project is wrapping up, southeast 8th, 11th and 12th avenues will be closed to through traffic south of Division Street for up to three weeks as part of the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Transit Project. The project starts July 15.
Other Portland construction projects that will significantly impact traffic throughout the summer include Interstate 84 summer repaving, the Division Streetscape Project, the Stephens Street Streetcar Turnback and the SE Clay Green Street Project.
The projects are scheduled to be complete by September, except the Division Streetscape Project, which will be completed in several phases through October 2014.
