SALEM, Ore. -- Starting June 30, the amount paid to people filing for unemployment insurance benefits will increase.
The maximum benefit a person can receive will increase to $538 a week, up from $524. The minimum is $126 a week instead of $122.
Those with existing unemployment claims will continue to receive the same amount in benefits.
Each year, the Oregon Employment Department recalculates the maximum and minimum amount paid weekly to people who filed for unemployment benefits. The amounts are based on a percentage of the average weekly wage earned by Oregonians.
The new maximum and minimum payments represent approximately a three percent increase from benefits paid over the past year.
