PORTLAND -- Portland Thorns forward Christine Sinclair has been named the National Women’s Soccer League Player of the Month for April, the team announced Tuesday.
"Sinclair earned at least a point in three straight games during the month of April, helping guide Thorns FC to an undefeated 2-0-1 record during the opening month," spokesman Chris Metz said.
She scored the first goal in the Thorns' history, with a game-tying penalty kick April 13 against FC Kansas City in the league’s inaugural match.
Sinclair played soccer for the University of Portland (2001-02, 2004-05).
