PORTLAND -- Students at a North Portland school took a big step in their very own salmon recovery project Wednesday.
The fourth- and fifth-graders at Boise-Eliot/Humboldt School scooped up baby salmon from eggs that hatched in their school aquarium.
Then, they loaded onto a bus and traveled to a lake near the Columbia River where they released the salmon into their new home.
The students partnered with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for the special project.
