BEAVERTON, OR -- A teenager died after a suspected hit-and-run in Washington County Tuesday night, police said.
Investigators believe a vehicle struck Harley Rocher, 18, of Beaverton, near the intersection of Laurelwood and Homewood, just before 8 p.m., then left the scene. 911 callers reported seeing a man face down in the roadway and officers responded to find Rocher dead.
"They have no idea who they took from this earth," said Harley's mother, Tammi Beers. "He was wise beyond his years and so responsible."
Police said evidence gathered at the scene indicated that the teen was the victim of a hit-and-run. The Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team was helping with the investigation.
Rocher earned his GED through Aloha High School in 2012. Before that, he attended Mountain View Middle School and Chehalem Elementary School.
Authorities have not released a description of the suspect vehicle.
Anyone with information that may help investigators was urged to call the Beaverton Police Department.
"He deserves that, our family deserves that," said Beers. "We deserve that closure."
