PORTLAND, Ore. -- The rain and windstorm driving through Western Oregon caused outages in the Portland area and down the Willamette Valley, and widespread street flooding through rush hour Monday evening.
Numerous roadways around the Portland area were flooded Monday, creating afternoon gridlock.
Localized flooding was reported at the underpass on SE Powell east of the Ross Island Bridge; on Columbia Blvd. under I-5; on I-84 Eastbound heading out of downtown; on I-405 southbound; at SW 34th and Multnomah Blvd; at 15th and West Burnside; and, on Hwy 43 near John's Landing. TriMet also reported some route impacts from the heavy rain.
Power outages were also reported throughout the Willamette Valley. PGE reported customers without power in Yamhill, Marion, Multnomah and Clackamas counties. Many of the outages were the result of trees downing power lines. More: PGE outage information
