PORTLAND -- Downtown Portland's Tom McCall Waterfront Park made the list of 2012's Top 10 Great Public Spaces in the country, picked by the American Planning Association.
The list highlights public spaces with "exceptional character" that have evolved from thoughtful and deliberate planning, according to APA's Denny Johnson.
Waterfront Park was chosen "for its design and features, history, and high level of community support and use," he said.
He added that the 30-acre park "is an integral part of Portland’s downtown and the city’s cultural, recreational and social life."
Pioneer Courthouse Square and Ladd’s Addition were also honored by the APA, as Great Places in Portland.
