HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. -- The suspect in a fatal shooting Sunday night near Happy Valley has been captured.
Jason Duane Hogan Jr., 33, allegedly shot his girlfriend and her mother, then fled in a stolen car. His photo was circulated by the media and police were alerted that a man who looked like him was seen getting off a TriMet bus at SW 185th and Tualatin-Valley Highway, according to the Washington County sheriff's office.
Then, late Tuesday morning, officers got another tip that he was riding a MAX train headed for the Beaverton Transit Center. Local officers and agents with the U.S. Marshal's Office hid and waited. They watched as Hogan exited a MAX train and walked onto a pedestrian bridge, then they moved in and captured him.
Hogan did not resist arrest, police said. He put up his hands and told officers he had a gun in his pocket, which they seized.
Police had warned that Hogan was very unpredictable and should not be approached.
Norma Jean Perrone, 62, died. Gina Marie Perrone, 29, survived the gunfire, Phillips said. Hogan was Gina's boyfriend and had a young child with her. They all lived together at the home where the shooting occurred, according to investigators. The child is now in protective custody.
Gina called 911 for help just before 11 p.m. She told dispatchers Hogan had shot her and her mother in their home on SE Hobart Court. Moments later, dispatchers got calls from neighbors about hearing gunfire.
Both women were taken to the hospital but Norma did not survive. On Tuesday, Gina was upgraded from critical to serious condition.
The suspect sped off sometime during the night, in a car police said he stole from an acquaintance.
Hogan has an extensive criminal record including assaults, kidnapping charges, and a SWAT incident. He has also been shot, Sgt. Adam Phillips with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
Hogan will likely face murder and attempted murder charges.
Police are also trying to locate two vehicles they believe were somehow involved in Hogan's escape. The first a silver 2002 VW Golf 924DQG and a dark blue Hyundai Elantra 161DMT. The Hyundai has damage to the hood.

Tuesday's arrest was a team effort with the help of the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force, the Multnomah County Warrant Strike Team and Beaverton Police Department.
