PORTLAND – A stabbing suspect surrendered after police surrounded a group home in Southeast Portland where both the suspect and the victim lived.
The Portland Police SERT Team was activated and evacuated some residents in the 7800 Block of Southeast Sherman Street while surrounding the home. Residents in the group home were also evacuated early Tuesday morning.
Investigators said the victim, described only as a 50-year-old man, was transported to Oregon Health and Science University where he underwent surgery and was expected to survive. They also said the victim and the suspect were roommates.
The suspect, a man in his 40s, surrendered sometime before 9:30 a.m. and was taken into custody without incident, police said. Names have not yet been released.
