PORTLAND -- A powerful storm will slowly make its way into Oregon Thursday, bringing high winds, heavy rain, and even some snow, meteorologists said.
“So far, the winds are already picking up at the coast,” KGW Meteorologist Nick Allard said early Thursday morning. “Look for sustained winds between 35-45 miles an hour with gusts above 60 miles per hour possible. Inland spots will be generally breezy, but occasionally windy.”
The National Weather Service issued a High Wind Warning from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday, for the headlands and beaches of the North Oregon Coast.
As for the rain, it will come in waves. Allard said it will start to get fairly heavy Thursday afternoon and then again Thursday night.
“Speaking of Thursday night, once the rain starts, the cooler air will work its way in,” Allard added. “The snow levels will lower and the snow will start to pile up."
He said 6-10" of snow was possible Thursday night in the mountains, with 2-3' possible through Sunday.
