OREGON CITY -- The combined effluent of West Linn, Oregon City and Gladstone were pouring untreated into the Willamette River Sunday because of a power outage at an Oregon City treatment plant.
The outage at the Tri-City Water Pollution Control Plant came at 11:19 was still not fixed mid-afternoon Sunday and about three million gallons of sewage had gone into the river, officials said.
The cause of the outage is unknown but stems from a delivery problem by Portland General Electric, said plant spokesman
Michael Trent. PGE crews were working to hopefully restore power by 5 p.m., he said, and the spill was being monitored by the DEQ and the Oregon Emergency Response System.
Signs have been posted near the spill.
