PORTLAND – Temperatures were expected to rapidly climb 35 degrees in a single day in the Portland Metro area Tuesday. And Wednesday was expected to be even warmer, with the high for July 7 likely to tumble.
Tuesday began with a low of 51 degrees and topped out at 84 - just shy of the 87 degrees that would have made it a record.
The clear skies were forecast to continue through Friday, with highs in the 90s the next three days and a heat advisory through Thursday for the area.

If the heat in the city doesn’t sound appealing, Hill said it’s a great time for a trip to the Oregon Coast, where highs were expected to reach the 80s through Friday.
Then, conditions were expected to cool down just a bit on the weekend.
“All forecast models are showing a little cooling this weekend. West winds were expected to knock the temperature down into the 80s Saturday and Sunday,” Hill said.
