SALEM, Ore. -- Oregon legislators are going into the second week of what's expected to be a monthlong session.
They expect to hear Monday that the recession has driven down revenue collections. The shortfall in income tax and lottery proceeds is expected to be at least $100 million. The state government is now in the eighth month of a two-year budget.
On other topics this week, legislative committees face a deadline for acting on some of the high-profile topics of the session. Among them is whether to ban plastic bags at the checkout counter.
