PORTLAND - The stepdaughter of a Milwaukie youth league coach charged with child sex abuse involving a player says she was also abused by him.
Police arrested 49-year-old Gary Clausen on nine counts of sex abuse. Detectives began their investigation after hearing in April that Clausen had inappropriate contact with another girl, a 16-year-old player on a team he coached.
Chelsea Tobler claimed the abuse by her stepfather started when she was 9 years old and didn't end until she was 16 years old. Tobler claims she told her family about the abuse, but no one believed her.
“He would always lay next to me in bed and touch me in inappropriate places. I wanted to tell people right then, I wanted to scream,” she said.
Clausen has not been charged in connection with those allegations because Tobler did not go to authorities at the time she says the abuse occurred.
Police executed a search warrant at Clausen's Southeast Portland house and car Thursday.
The charges were all related to one victim who Clausen had coached. Police expressed concerns there could be more victims.
Clausen is described as a well-known coach who also coached youth football, basketball and baseball outside of the school district. He is also the former President of Mount Hood Little League.
