HILLSBORO, Ore. -- A morning car chase Monday led to an intense manhunt in Washington County for a wanted felon.
Deputies established a large perimeter for hours in the Hillsboro area around Glencoe and Wren roads, but could not locate Josh David Nicholas.
Nicholas is considered “armed and dangerous” and may be carrying several guns. Investigators added that they believed Nicholas would rather "get into a shootout" than be arrested.
On Friday, Washington County sheriffs and Crime Stoppers offered a $1000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the 36-year-old Nicholas.
Nicholas has two outstanding warrants for drug-related charges and also for stealing a car, according to police. He has been arrested 45 times in three states and convicted on numerous charges involving drugs and weapons.
Nicholas, who also goes by the name "Clay," was described as 5-foot-9, weighing about 160 pounds with short, dark hair.
Detectives said he recently shaved his head and face. He has had dark hair and sometimes facial hair.
He also has several tattoos, including a sundial on his back, a broken cross on his right hand, a bulldog on his upper let arm, and the letters OZZY across the fingers on his left hand, according to police.
Anyone with information on Josh "Clay" Nicholas was asked to call 911 or the non-emergency police number (503) 629-0111. Police warned not to contact Nicholas directly.
