PORTLAND, Ore. - Friends have begun mourning a public defender found slain at her Portland home this week, and one of her clients has called her "a fighter."
Meanwhile, police spokeswoman Mary Wheat said Thursday police had nothing to report on their investigation into the killing of 57-year-old Nancy Bergeson.
Wheat said at the beginning of the investigation that police don't know who is responsible, someone known to Bergeson, or a stranger.
Bergeson was found Tuesday, but officers at first thought she had died a natural death. An autopsy Wednesday concluded that she was a homicide victim. Police have not said how she died.
Bergeson was an assistant federal public defender and had worked in that office in Portland and Eugene since 1991.
