HILLSBORO, Ore. – The principal of Orenco Elementary School in Hillsboro was arrested Monday night for hit-and-run and domestic harassment, authorities said.
Timothy Bishop, 52, was arrested at his home in Beaverton after someone reported that he struck a parked vehicle near the Cooper Mountain Nature Park in Aloha, said Sgt. Bob Ray with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies showed up at the home, they received reports that Bishop had been physically harassing his wife, Ray said.
Bishop was booked in the Washington County Jail on charges of hit and run, reckless driving, and domestic harassment. He was placed on paid administrative leave by the Hillsboro School District.
The district is cooperating with deputies and will conduct its own investigation once more information is released by police, said Beth Graser, a spokeswoman with the school district.
On Wednesday a letter went out to students and families at Orenco Elementary School letting them know Bishop was placed on leave and an interim principal would be put in place for the next few days.
