SALEM - Marion County deputies were involved in a fatal shooting at the Silver Spur RV park in Silverton Monday afternoon.

"I heard shots fired at two different times and at two different locations" said witness Tim Hughes.

Authorities said around 1:50pm a gunman, armed with two guns, shot a man.  Responding officers then exchanged gunfire with the suspect.

"I watched him get shot multiple times," said Hughes.  "Until the end he was trying to grab a weapon."

The gunman was airlifted to a Portland hospital where he died from his injuries.  The shooter's victim was listed in stable condition.

The RV park is located at 12622 Silverton Road N, just outside Silverton. No officers were hurt, deputies said.

Oregon State Police said just after 4 p.m. there was no threat to the public.

The manager at the RV park told KGW by phone that the situation was "under control" but did not elaborate.

Road closures in the area included; Silverton Road at Brush Creek and the City Limits at the east end, and Paradise Alley between Silverton and Cascade Highway.
