ROSEBURG—Police arrested a man Thursday accused of throwing a rock last November from an Interstate 5 overpass that injured two University of Oregon students.

Detectives arrested 19-year-old Mathew McKinney of Sutherlin in connection with the attack that put one woman in the hospital, police said.

The rock went through the driver's side windshield, hitting 20-year-old Molly Grabill in the face at the Isadore Road overpass. The rock was larger than a baseball, according to Oregon State Police troopers.

Grabill, a University of Oregon student and track athlete, was taken to a Springfield hospital for treatment of facial injuries. The passenger was treated and released for minor injuries.

McKinney was booked in the Douglas County Jail on charges of assault, criminal mischief and reckless endangering.
