PORTLAND -- Freezing fog Friday morning made for an accident-filled commute throughout the Portland metro area.
A number of school districts reported delays and were putting buses on snow routes.

The slick conditions were expected to continue throughout the morning drive, said KGW meteorologist Nick Allard. "If you see fog, assume ice," he warned.
A number of accidents were reported throughout the region, 49 in Portland alone since midnight.
Two school buses slowly slid into each other in Vancouver at West 29th and Lincoln Avenue. Students on the buses were not hurt, said police spokeswoman Kim Kapp.
Two major commuting wrecks were I-205 northbound south of the Sandy interchange, and I-5 northbound at Columbia. An accident caused delays on Highway 30 in Columbia County.

After the icy morning, Allard said to expect partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the upper 30s.
Thursday snow flurries first hit Washington County and the West Hills about 6:30 a.m. Then the storm should drop into lower elevations, with flakes possible down to the valley floor.
