KIHEI, Maui - A 61-year-old Lake Oswego man is recovering from a shark bite while snorkeling in Maui Friday.

He was about 250 yards offshore when he was bitten by what he said was a 10-foot shark.
The victim then got on his paddleboard and was escorted into shore by family and some nearby local canoe club members, Maui police said.
The man had a deep cut to his left calf, consistent with that of a shark bite.
Lifeguards closed the beaches to monitor the area.
