CLACKAMAS, Ore. --In an unusual nighttime press conference, Clackamas County Sheriff's deputies identified a suspect in the murder of a Lake Oswego man killed in his home Monday.

Deputies described the man, identfified as 37-year-old Erik John Meiser, as having a long criminal history with arrests across the country.

Meiser is 6'5" tall and weighs 170 to 190 pounds.  He has the words "neo Nazi" tattooed on the knuckles of his right hand.

Deputies warned citizens not to approach Meiser and to call 9-1-1 if they spot him.

Authorities issued the arrest warrant for Meiser Thursday, and called the evening press conference in hopes of generating information on where he may be.

Clackamas County Sheriff Roberts said Meiser is an experienced traveler who uses all kinds of public transportation, including foot travel.  He also carries knives uses them as weapons.

Hayes was murdered with a knife Monday morning after he and his wife returned home from a dog walk.

At the press conference, Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts said his agency has received more than 300 tips from the public, but say they continue to want more information.  They ask anyone who has seen Meiser recently to leave a message on their tipline.  That number is 503-723-4949.
