PORTLAND – An Eagle Point man faces charges for allegedly hiding a loaded gun in a planter at the Portland International Airport.
Soren Muir Johnson, 69, reportedly asked TSA screeners at the security checkpoint on June 24 what he should do with his firearm and he was instructed to go to the ticket counter, according to Steve Johnson with the Port of Portland.
Then, TSA employees said they saw him put the gun inside a planter box in the airport lobby, Johnson said.
Police were called to the scene and located a loaded firearm. Johnson was stopped as he was going through the north security checkpoint to get on a flight.
Police said Johnson told them he hid the firearm so he could retrieve it when he returned from his travel.
He was arrested and charged with reckless endangering.
