PORTLAND -- An Interstate 205 on-ramp in Southeast Portland was temporarily closed while police detained a naked, uncooperative man Thursday.
Police were called just before noon to the report of an unwanted person in the parking lot of Portland Adventist Medical Center, at 10123 SE Market Street, according to Portland Police Bureau dispatchers.
Responding officers found a man in what appeared to be a hospital gown. He ran away from them as they arrived.
An employee at the nearby America's Best Eye Glasses store told KGW the man ran into the store, wearing a sheet.
"He was just standing in the store, holding a sheet around his shoulders," the employee said. Police "came in and asked him to leave."
Officers then escorted the man outside, and he "suddenly dropped the sheet and took off," the employee added.
The naked man was reportedly tackled by police, and then escaped and was later tased. Officers eventually detained the man at the SE Stark Street on-ramp to I-205.
Video from an Oregon Dept. of Transportation camera shows the man on the ground struggling with officers as they take him into custody.
