Police identify teen killed in North Portland shooting

One dead in shooting near North Portland school

PORTLAND, Ore. – Police have identified an 18-year-old man who was shot and and killed in North Portland Monday night.

Marquis Stephion Taylor died of a single gunshot wound, according to police. A neighbor told KGW's Mike Benner he heard one gunshot.

Officers responded to a report of gunfire near North Willis Boulevard and Hereford Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. They found Taylor dead at the scene.Police do not have any information about a suspect or witnesses, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.

"We're hopeful someone in the neighborhood calls in anything they may have heard prior to the shooting," said Simpson.

Preliminary information indicated to police that Taylor ran some distance to where he was found by police.
