BREMERTON, Wash. – A woman has been hit by a pipe that fell from a crane at Naval Base Kitsap this afternoon, according to emergency dispatchers.
The accident happened in a construction staging area. Details of what led to the accident were not immediately available.
A base spokesperson says the victim is an employee of a civilian contractor. Her condition has not been released, but an Airlift Northwest medical helicopter could be seen landing near the shipyard.
Initial reports indicated that the accident happened at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
