After leaving the store the group crossed to the east side of the highway. They were walking southbound on the sidewalk when the shooting occurred in the S. 23000 block.

The suspect was driving northbound on the highway and stopped.  The suspect yelled out a slang term interpreted by the victims as a robbery.

One of the male victims yelled "gun" when the suspect pointed a firearm towards them through the open passenger window.  The group of teens began to run and the suspect fired once, striking the girl in the upper arm.
