BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) — Baker City voters have handily rejected an effort to remove Mayor Dennis Dorrah and Councilwoman Beverly Calder from office.
Recall petitions against Dorrah and Calder were filed in mid-June, about a week after the two voted to fire City Manager Steve Brocato.
In results from late Tuesday, the measure to recall Dorrah failed 71 percent to 29 percent. The measure to remove Calder from office failed 68 percent to 32 percent.
Calder and Dorrah were both elected to four-year terms in November 2006.
Two other councilors voted to fire Brocato, but could not be recalled because they had been in office less than six months.
The three councilors who wanted to keep Brocato participated in the recall campaign against their two colleagues.
