PORTLAND -- Up to two feet of snow could fall in the Cascades by Saturday morning and some of those flakes could make their way down to the Portland hills, KGW Meteorologist Nick Allard said.

"The snow level today will be around 2,000 feet with decent snow in the forecast," he said Thursday. "We should see about 4 to 8 inches through tonight and about 1 to 2 feet from Friday through Saturday morning."

Allard warned that drivers traveling though the Cascades and the foothills could see blizzard conditions Friday night.

The snow level could drop early Saturday to about 1,000 feet, bringing possible snow showers into the metro area, he added. As cold air moves in later in the day, the showers will taper off.
