GARDEN CITY – A 21-year-old Nampa woman is in the Ada County Jail facing murder charges after police found a man’s body under a home.
Garden City Police officers were investigating a missing person report Friday afternoon near Elaynea Lane and 51st Street in Garden City when they found what officers described as suspicious circumstances surrounding the 50-year-old man’s death.
The investigation led detectives to 21-year-old Jordan Marie Shaver from Nampa who left the home minutes before officers arrived.
Officers found Shaver about an hour later in a business complex near Glenwood and State Streets. Officers arrested her on an unrelated felony warrant for failure to appear.
After detectives questioned Shaver, she was arrested on a charge of second degree murder.
Detectives were at the crime scene most of Saturday gathering evidence and will likely be there into the night.
Pending a coroner's identification, Police won't yet say if the body they found is the missing man, but neighbors are fearing the worst.
"Yeah, I've known him for quite a few years," said Rita, a neighbor. "I shot him an e-mail on Facebook the other day, and I didn't get a response from him. I was wondering why I didn't."
Neighbors who know the 50-year-old, say he's a kind man, and are shocked and saddened by what they say, seems to have happened.
"How can somebody do that? He was buried underneath his house. That's crazy," said Rita.
She says she's known the missing man for around a decade, but has never heard of Jordan Marie Shaver, the woman in jail now charged with his murder.
Again, Shaver is charged with 2nd degree murder. That's different than 1st degree in that there's no pre-meditation. But, police say prosecutors could change that down the line.
