BOISE -- Hundreds of volunteers spent their Saturday at school. More than 200 volunteers from the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health helped build a new playground for Taft Elementary.
Earlier this week volunteers removed the old playground equipment and set aside Saturday to put in a new set.
The organizers say there is a big need for this playground.
"In parks and neighborhoods without a playground incidents of child obesity increase by 29 percent so building as many parks as possible," said volunteer Kendra Whitt-Dole.
The new playground's design is based on drawings created by children who participated in a Design Day event in September.
