SPOKANE -- Tropical Storm Isaac will disrupt the first day of the Republican National Convention.

Organizers have cut virtually all of the activities scheduled for Monday and compressed what was to be a four-day convention to three days, running Tuesday through Thursday

Kent Clausen is with seven Republican delegates from Spokane who arrived in Tampa over the weekend.

“I don’t think anybody in our group is really feeling too concerned about [the storm],” Clausen said in a phone interview.

Clausen said his group may make the most of Monday and explore the city before the convention kicks off.

"If it's not too bad, many of us will go downtown and we will try to take in some of the sights of Tampa,” he said.

The Spokane delegates attended events and meetings Sunday as part of their convention schedule. They also met with GOP leaders from across the region.

“It’s very exciting to be here. There’s a lot of energy,” Clausen said.
