LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. -- Firefighters say they have the "upper hand" on a brush fire near the Liberty Lake Regional Park.
The fire is burning on rough, uphill terrain on Zephyr Road, about one half mile south of the campgrounds. A plane and a helicopter are dropping water on the fire in an effort to contain it.
People in four homes have been told to be prepared to evacuate. Authorities say the fire is slow-moving, and traveling in the opposite direction of the campground. No one from the campground has been asked to leave.
The smoke was visible from I-90 Sunday afternoon.
Spokane Valley Fire Chief Rick Freier said the fire is approximately five acres.
Authorities are not concerned about structures
