KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Gurpreet Singh was working his final shift as a 7-Eleven clerk — before starting a full-time job at a hospital — when he was gunned down during a robbery.
Kansas City, Mo., police say they can't explain why the 35-year-old was shot in the abdomen this week even after complying with the gunman's instructions to hand over cash in a bag.
The encounter was recorded on the store's cameras. Police are working to identify the killer and two others who were with him.
Singh's brother says the divorced father of two was proud of his upcoming job as a hospital kitchen supervisor. He says Singh could have skipped his final shifts at the store but didn't because he'd promised to be there, even though he'd already been robbed less than a month earlier.
