Feds: Chicago men discussed terror attack in India

Posted on November 3, 2009 at 12:18 PM

CHICAGO (AP) — Federal prosecutors say two Chicago men charged with allegedly plotting to launch a terrorist attack on a Danish newspaper also discussed an attack on a military college in India.

Prosecutors say the National Defense College in India was one of several potential targets Tahawwura (tuh-HAH'-wur) Hussain Rana discussed with David Headley, who is also charged in the case.

The prosecutors made the statement introduced in court papers as federal Magistrate Judge Nan Nolan prepared to consider whether to release Rana on bond.

Prosecutors say the alleged discussion of an attack in India shows that Rana was serious about taking part in terrorism and wasn't merely Headley's dupe.
