What's the most Instagrammed place in every state?

From the White House to the Grand Canyon, the United States has a lot of iconic places to photograph. Did you really visit if you didn't post it on Instagram?

As the year comes to a close, we took a look at some of the photo-sharing app's most popular things, courtesy of Instagram's 500 million active users. They love filters (the most popular are Clarendon and Gingham) and emojis (the most popular are hearts and the smiley face with heart eyes), and they shared the most on Halloween and 9/11.

The most Instagrammed places in the world are Disney Theme Parks, Universal Studios Theme Parks, Central Park in New York City, Times Square in New York City, the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum and the Las Vegas Strip. But each state has iconic Instagram spots too. Here are the top 5 most geo-tagged places in each state.

by @drewtrush // The snow has started flying here in the U.S. and for me, that always means it’s time to start looking for mountain lions! Having the added benefit of snow allows researchers like @yellowstone_cougar_project to track these beautiful cats and find out where they are moving and where they like to walk. In this case, it means past a huge elk rack along the base of a cliff in Yellowstone National Park. We get a lot of questions as to wether or not we placed this rack there, but I can assure you this is how we found it. Because of a rule in the National Park that you can’t take shed antlers out of the park, we were able to set up our remote camera in this amazing location. Without that rule, this rack would have been long gone and hanging on someones wall. Think it’s fake? Follow along with @drewtrush to see the next image in the sequence and learn a little more of the backstory how we capture these images! @yellowstonenps

【'Jane the virgin' star to Brown students: Be the hero in your own story】#brownuniversitynews · [In a lecture that drew on her personal and professional experiences, actress Gina Rodriguez told students to be bold, to take risks and to be the heroes in their own stories.] · On a blustery November night in New England as far removed as possible from the palm trees that sprawl the set of “Jane the Virgin,” television star Gina Rodriguez cast her comedic approach aside to deliver a Brown Lecture Board talk to students that touched on body positivity, leaping into the unknown and maintaining a strong sense of self-appreciation. · A Chicago, Ill., native and an aspiring entertainer since her childhood years, Rodriguez is perhaps best known for her role as Jane Villanueva on the CW network comedy/drama. Her portrayal of a young woman who is accidently inseminated earned her a Golden Globe win in 2015 and a second recent nomination for Best Actress in a Television Series. · Much of her fame and success, she told a room packed with Brown students on Monday, Nov. 21, can be whittled down to a phrase her father etched into her head at an early age: “Today is a great day. I can and I will.” · Repeating those words every day in front of a mirror, Rodriguez thought of her routine as a silly habit she’d picked up. But after arriving at New York University to study drama, she was diagnosed with thyroid disease, a condition often marked by tiredness and weight gain. She felt like she was cursed, she said. · “I already have all these things against me,” Rodriguez said she thought at the time. “I’m broke, I’m brown, I don’t look like ladies in the movies, and I just wanted to be a leading lady.” · But she called upon her father’s advice, she said, which resonated with her more then than ever. · Since then, Rodriguez has landed roles in major films and television shows, including stints on “Law & Order,” “Army Wives” and, of course, “Jane the Virgin.” She’s also set to star in the upcoming sci-fi thriller, “Annihilation,” alongside Natalie Portman, Oscar Isaac and Tessa Thompson, among others. #BrownUniversity

We first got to meet Sabrina @leave.her.wild_ and Steele at a Joshua Tree meet up in the Spring of 2015. They both made such a great impression of how one can live a full life surrounded by nature. They both helped inspire the idea of starting National Park Geek. Please give Brandon's post below a read and help if you can this season of sharing and goodwill. •••••• Thank you Brandon @road.trip.dad a National Park Geek Ambassador for sharing Sabrina's story. ・・・ This is Sabrina @leave.her.wild_ and her son Steele. She was one of the first "adventure family" folks I connected with after starting Road Trip Dad. Throughout the past year and a half, I have been in awe of this single mom who dedicated herself to giving her son an enriching and unconventional life of hiking, camping, and travel. You could tell through her photos and stories that it was a life he loved. Sadly, because her parenting choices are not the cookie-cutter "norm," they have been used against her by an absentee father and a broken justice system and now this amazing mother has lost custody of her son. I encourage all of you that are passionate about family and the outdoors to go look at her feed. Scroll back through this past year and see Sabrina and Steele's story. Go to the link to her gofundme account in her profile. Give your support to this mom who is now suffering for being brave enough to give her son more than the usual routine childhood. #givingtuesday --------- #nationalparkgeek #FYPyes #nps #nps100 #nationalpark #nationalparks #americasbestidea #findyourpark #goparks #nationalparkfoundation #everykidinapark #nature #naturelovers
