DES MOINES — A robber attempted to take money from a Chipotle Mexican Grill but fled with only a burrito, according to a police report.
A man entered the restaurant at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in suburban Des Moines. He got in line and ordered a burrito, a female cashier told police.
When the man approached the cash register, he said he had a gun in his sweatshirt, opened a bag and demanded the cashier put money in it, according to the report.
The cashier told police she got scared and ran into the back room without giving the suspect any money. The man then grabbed his bagged burrito and ran out the front door, police said.
"He got away with a $7 burrito," Sgt. Raymond Carrington of the Des Moines Police said on the scene.
Investigators, who have not yet identified the suspect, are reviewing video of the incident, according to the police report.
No word on whether the burrito was chicken or steak.
