Man shot, killed by Federal Way police

KING 5's Ryan Takeo reports.

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- An armed 21-year-old man was shot and killed by police at a Federal Way mobile home park Saturday night.

Police say they were called to the Camelot Square mobile home park in the 3000 block of S. 288th St around 5:40 p.m. for a situation involving two brothers, one of whom was armed with a knife.

Family members had locked themselves in one of the rooms. When police arrived, they helped get them to safety through a window.

The 21-year-old man, armed with knives, made suicidal statements as he approached officers. Two officers fired at the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Federal Way police say the officers who fired their weapons are on administrative leave during the investigation, which is standard procedure.

The Valley Investigative Team will continue to investigate the shooting.
