U.S. Coast Guard responds to sunken boat in Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash.-- U.S. Coast guard crews responded to a 60-foot pleasure craft that sunk at Fisherman's Terminal Saturday.

After making contact with the sunken vessel's owner, who contacted their insurance and hired Global Diving and Salvage to plug vents and remove fuel, Incident Management Division personnel from Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound are monitoring the situation.

Watchstanders at Sector Puget Sound were notified at 7:38 a.m. by the Seattle Fire Department, who also notified Ecology personnel.

Boom and absorbent pads were deployed to contain pollution. It was reported that the vessel may have up to 400 gallons of diesel aboard.
