RIGGINS -- The body of a Washington man who drowned in the Salmon River earlier this month has been recovered.
The Idaho County Sheriff's Office said 26-year-old Austin K. Kelley's body was found in the river Thursday near French Creek.
Kelley, a Tumwater resident, has been missing since Sept. 4, when was caught in the current and pulled underwater as he tried to swim across the river. The man's family and friends said they saw him surface about 50 feet away from where he had gone under, and tried to reach him, but were unsucessful.
The sheriff's office said days after Kelley disappeared that he was presumed to have drowned.
The Idaho County Sheriff's Office, Idaho County Sheriff's Search and Rescue, Riggins Dive Team, Clearwater County Search Dog, Idaho Department of Fish & Game, and Kelley's friends and family participated in the search.
