House fire sparks brush fire near Chewelah

CHEWELAH, Wash. – Authorities said a house fire sparked a brush fire near Chewelah Wednesday afternoon.

Department of Natural Resources officials said the fire is burning three to five acres on Flyckt Road and Upper Cottonwood southwest of Chewelah.

Officials said the fire is moving toward other structures but no evacuations were in place as of 3:00 p.m. Wednesday.  

Helicopters are on scene making air drops and more than 40 firefighters are working to put it out.
