Suspects use blowtorch in attempted Spokane Valley burglary

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Some creative burglars tried to break into a home in Spokane Valley Saturday morning using an interesting tool.

Stephanie and Monte said someone tried to break into their home in the area of 16th and Sullivan around 5:00 a.m. with a blowtorch.

They said their 16-year-old daughter was getting ready for work and caught them in the act and they took off.

The couple said the attempted burglars also broke a window to their shop but they could not tell if they actually got in.

They reported the attempted break in to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. When deputies arrived, they told the couple they had never seen a blowtorch used in a burglary.
