SPD arrests attempted murder suspect after long standoff

SPOKANE, Wash. --  Spokane Police arrested an attempted murder suspect at a home in north Spokane after an hours long standoff Friday night.

Officials said they had gathered information that Coby Adams, 38, was at a home on North Washington near West Garland Avenue. They said Adams was wanted attempted first degree murder.

Around 8:00 p.m., authorities went to the home to try to take Adams into custody. Resources from the SWAT team, Hostage Negotiation team, Explosives Disposal Unit, K9 unit and U.S. Marshall’s service were called in to try to bring the suspect in due to the nature of the warrant and his violent history. Authorities tried to talk with a woman inside the home but were unsuccessful.

After hours of trying to talk to Adams, a K9 was sent in to search the home. Officials said the K9 found Adams and he was taken into custody shortly after.

Adams was then booked into the Spokane County Jail for the warrant.
