SPOKANE, Wash. – Retired Spokane Police Department K9 Stryder was laid to rest on Monday, according to a K9 Unit Facebook post.
K9 Stryder spent nine years working with the department and has spent the last four years in retirement.
Stryder began working with SPD in 2003, when he was just a year old. He worked alongside Sergeant Shawn Kendall. He was also the last of the SPD Puppy Program, where K9s were bred and raised as puppies within in the K9 unit.
Following his career catching crooks, K9 Stryder moved out of the unit and into Kendall’s home with his family.
Thank you for your service, K9 Stryder.
