SPOKANE, Wash. --- Four finalists have been announced for the Spokane police chief position.
Elk Grove Police Chief Robert Lehner and Yakima Police Chief Dominic Rizzi are two of the four candidates looking to be Spokane's new police chief.
After numerous public forums and a mayoral appointment, Robert Lehner said he is happy to get another chance to be Spokane's police chief.
Lehner said this is not the same position that he interviewed for back in July.
"The complexity of the position and the situation is more extreme than it was the last time,” said Lehner.
This time, he and Dominic Rizzi will be up against newly appointed Police Chief Craig Meidl, and Frisco Police Chief John Bruce.
Rizzi said last time around the forums were very limited and did not give an opportunity for more dialog.
Meidl was given two major forums at the City Council's request, before they made a decision on confirming him for police chief.
"I'm excited to go through the process and our department is looking forward to having a permanent chief in place as soon as possible,” said Meidl.
A public forum will be held on Tuesday night at the West Central Community Center. The forum will begin at 6p.m.
