One of Seattle's sweetest holiday traditions returns to the Sheraton hotel.
Culinary crews have put the finishing touches on the 24th Annual Gingerbread Village. The Sheraton's culinary crew partnered with local architecture firms to design, build and wow the crowds with larger-than-life gingerbread creations. This year's theme channels J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, to coincide with the release of her new film "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them."
The hotel has been doing this every year since 1992. More than 150,00 visitors have come to see the annual displays and donated more than $841,000 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Gingerbread villages like this are built with approximately 1,200 pounds of dough, 800 pounds of icing and hundreds of pounds of candy, white chocolate and almond paste.
This year's featured architects include 4D Architects, AnkromMoisan, Bailly & Bailly, CallisonRTKL, Master Builders of King and Snohomish and GelotteHommas and MG2.
The gingerbread village will be on display through January 1, 2017.
