Scentsy holds Rock-A-Thon

The 12-hour event is going on in Meridian.

Today is the third annual Rock-A-Thon event for Scentsy.

That means you are invited to keep 70 rocking chairs moving for 12 consecutive hours on the sidewalk of Eagle Road between Pine Avenue and Commercial Street in Meridian.

The effort is to raise money and awareness for the local nonprofit, Family Advocates, that works to strengthen families and end child abuse in southwest Idaho.

"I was very blessed to have two parents that loved me, took care of me. and there are families that don't have that, kids that don't have that," said Greg Watkins with Family Advocates.  "And Family Advocates is here to provide that for kids who don't have those same opportunities."

This year's theme is "Be a Hero," and participants are encouraged to wear superhero capes.

Scentsy's donation goal is to raise $252,000.

The event runs until 6 o'clock tonight and a celebratory firework show will follow at 8:45 p.m. on Scentsy Commons campus.
