Police investigate fatal officer-involved shooting in Auburn

KING 5's Natalie Swaby reports.

AUBURN, Wash. -- Police say a white man in his 60's was shot and killed by an officer Friday night.

Commander Steve Stocker said the officer was responding to a report of malicious mischief around 8:45 p.m. Police received a call about a man breaking car windows in a parking lot near 8th Street NE and Pike.

The officer was in the area investigating when a man approached him and "posed a threat," according to Cmdr. Stocker.

The officer fired multiple shots, killing the man. Police did not provide more details about how the man posed a threat, saying it was still early in the investigation.

Detectives are still gathering evidence and interviews.
